I have always thought this and not gunna lie it is one of the reasons I fell in love with Katara so much. At the time she did it, was was so-so with her. I thought the defeat of Azula could have gone to someone ‘cooler’. But this moment, so inherently badass, brave, and clever, made me re-look at and reevaluate her character, and since then I have just fallen in love with her.

I will be discussion Katara’s character, and how she is totally not an Evil Douche, by taking a look at that “The Southern Raiders” episode, that a certain part of the shipdom has been driving me crazy about, and I want to address one of their main arguments: Zuko was Katara’s soul mate BFF here.

No seriously, awesome essay.
I especially love the note you included where Zuko realizes he was wrong, because most people get on his case for the way he acts during the episode. Everyone seems to ignore or not care about what both he and Katara learn in this episode.
And this also shows that Katara’s dark side is very real, but when it comes out she is not being true to herself. This is not “OOC”, especially when we see her struggle with it when she confronts the soldier who killed her mother, and ultimately has mercy and realizes who she really is.
Anyways yeah, awesome. <3
